The Adventure Syndicate is collective of individuals who work collaboratively to help one another in pursuit of a common outcome: to enable more people to experience the mental, physical and environmental benefits of adventuring, exploring the outdoors, connecting to nature and moving sustainably.

Lee Craigie - Director

Lee established The Adventure Syndicate in 2016 in an effort to offer an alternative female sporting role model following a career of professional mountain bike racing. Lee’s career in outdoor education and child psychotherapy gave way when she became Scotlands Ambassador for Active Travel where she works to ensure the provision of fair, accessible spaces where everyone in Scotland can benefit rom being everyday active. She also rides bikes quite a lot, usually with Phil and Alice.

Kate O’Brien - Expedition Coordinator

Kate has worked in the outdoors for 20 years now sharing adventures with thousands of young people, in the mountains, under the stars, on lochs, beaches, rivers, and forests. On bikes, in boats, and on foot (sometimes bare ones). Based in the Highlands she now particularly loves exploring new places locally by bike...even better when it's for The Adventure Syndicate's Overnight on a School Night programme. Kate holds the Level 3 Mountain Bike and Summer Mountain Leader Awards.

Kate Rawles - Environmental Guide

Kate has undertaken some incredible adventures to raise awareness and explore the climate crisis, biodiversity and sustainability. This includes cycling from Columbia to Cape Horn along the spine of the Andes on a bamboo bike and pedalling from Texas to Alaska following the spine of the Rockies. Kate helps guide The Adventure Syndicate in a sustainable and climate-conscious direction.

Philippa Battye - One Third of the Adventure Trio

Philippa is an architect, maker and long-distance cyclist.  Currently most of her energy is directed at trying to keep a happy balance  between all three, in order to maintain passion for and meaning in the things she loves to do. Together with Alice and Lee, she creates and shares stories of sustainable adventure.

Alice Lemkes - One Third of the Adventure Trio

Alice is a social researcher, facilitator and PhD student. She is also a long distance cyclist, trustee of a cargo bike charity, and within the Adventure Syndicate organises events and dabbles in film production. Together with Phil and Lee, she journeys by bike and encourages others to do that same far more than her other commitments allow.
