Our more technical hostel-hop will see you taking on the best of the North West over 4 incredible days of riding - all familiar territory for Highland Trail 550 riders.

We’ll set out from Inverness and head north from Garve through Alladale’s wilderness reserve towards Oykel Bridge where we’ll hang a left and take the pass into the Rhiddorach estate and into Ullapool for our first evening.

Day two is a big one and we’ll spend the vast majority of our time deep in the heart of Fisherfield. There is always the coastal road if people don’t fancy the mountain section, which is awe-inspiring and humbling in equal measure. It’s likely to take 5-8 hours with a lot of walking, a river crossing, and a marvellous descent into Poolewe.

Day three sees us leaving Torridon Hostel and heading south east, beginning with the infamous Coire Lair descent packed full of the grippiest of Torridonian slab. We’ll end the day pushing up into Glen Affric where we get the chance to spend the night at Glen Affric hostel, one of the remotest hostels in Scotland.

The final day can be leisurely, or another mountain stage - with either a 60km road ride, or 100km on forest tracks and the Great Glen Way back to Inverness where we’ll head out for some well earned pints.

Who is this event for?

As with the other Highlanders, this event is open to all adventure-minded women, trans and non-binary folk. However, this route is more technical and more committing than our other offerings. We welcome people with mountain bikes and mountain bike experience who are up for a challenge and an adventure. You’ll need to have the means and confidence to use a GPS device, can contend with standard mechanicals like punctures, and who reckon they’ve got 100 off-road km in their legs for 4 days.

As with all of our events, this is not guided. We’ll be out riding too but you’ll be responsible for yourself when out along the route.

If you’d like to talk this route through with us, just drop an email to theadventuresyndicate@gmail.com
